Having looked at the weather forecast last night, I planned to go for a cycle to properly start this year's 'get fit in eight months' plan. It still took boy George Osbourne to drive me out the house. Nature or nurture? Why do all modern politicians sound smug and triumphant? Do they get taught it, or like Hague, does it develop with puberty? Superficially it sounds ok, but thinking about it, and hearing the details, general feelings of doom creep in. Where are the John Smiths in politics these days?
Looking down the Meldons road
Decided to go round the block (my favoured block that includes the Meldons) clockwise so that I would have a following wind for the last three uphill miles. Happy cycling up the Meldons road until a nice lady on a mountain bike overtook me reminded me that I was putting in minimal effort - must try harder. Also convinced myself that it was fine to stop frequently and take happy snaps. Still, a nice way to slowlyincrease the fitness on a sunny day.
Heading up the Lyne Water valley
Single track
First I've seen this year
Stopped at Whim farm shop to get some veg for tea as the fridge is empty - celeriac and mushrooms must fit into a recipe somehow. Oh, and coffee and brownie.
